Toy Story

The Connecticut Sun continued its Ten Days of Toys delivery tour Thursday as Connecticut Sun coach Mike Thibault and Blaze the mascot brought 100 toys to New Haven City Hall, where they were presented to Neighbor To Neighbor program founder Deb Hauser.

Roughly 40 students from the Lincoln-Bassett School in New Haven were on hand for the presentation, and each received a gift.

On Monday, Thibault and his wife Nanci joined Santa and Mrs. Claus for a visit to the Thames River Family Program in Norwich, handing out toys to boys and girls up to 10 years old.

"It was great to interact with all the children at Thames River Family Program," Thibault said. "My favorite part was watching the kids look out for each other. You can see what the visit meant to them."

Since the beginning of December, the Connecticut Sun has given away over 500 toys to various drives around the state. These toys were collected from Sun fans who generously donated during the Christmas In July game against the Los Angeles Sparks back on July 24th at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Two days before the visit to Thames River Family Program, Sun guard Kara Lawson joined Blaze the mascot for a Saturday morning trip to West Hartford, where the Connecticut Sun donated 150 toys to the Channel 30 Joy of Sharing Toy Drive.

And on Friday, December 10th, Blaze and coach Thibault traveled to the Sports Haven in New Haven, where WPLR morning radio hosts Chaz and AJ were hosting their eighth annual Toy Drive for the Kids of Connecticut. The Connecticut Sun contributed 150 toys to the event.

Prior to that, the Sun contributed 50 toys to the Hartford Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs (HYPE) Tons of Toys drive during the organization's annual holiday party on December 8th.

The Sun tipped off its toy donation tour December 3rd at the Brass Mill Center in Waterbury, giving 100 toys to the Fox 61 Toys For Tots drive.
