The"33 Days of Augustus" continued Tuesday when Minnesota forward Nicky Anosike took part in the Gospel Hill Camp and National Night Out.
While Seimone Augustus is busy competing for a gold medal in Bejing and other Lynx players fine-tune their games at home, Lynx forward Nicky Anosike is busy hitting the communities in and around the Twin Cities. The "33 Days of Augustus" led Anosike to Shoreview where she participated in the Gospel Hill Camp Tuesday, July 5. The campers welcomed Anosike to join them for a fun-filled day of camp activities, which included a basketball tournament and other hoops-related games.
As the 6-5 Lynx star entered the camp, campers greeted Anosike with a welcome banner signed by all of the campers, a nice touch that brought a smile to Anosike's face.
As the evening went along, the kids got the chance to receive some autographs, play some hoops and most importantly, talk to Anosike about Christianity and the role her religion plays in her life - an important message that the Gospel Hill Camp imparts on their camp-goers. The Gospel Hill Camp is put on by the Union Gospel Mission, a Christian service agency that works to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and educational needs of the economically disadvantaged men, women and children of the Twin Cities.

Anosike realizes the importance of relaying her message to the youth of Minnesota. "I feel it's important to get out in the community and speak to the kids about what's ahead for them. It helped that this was one of the most well behaved group of youth I've worked with."
The tour continued for Anosike Tuesday night, taking her to the Minneapolis Grand's National Night Out. National Night Out gave Anosike another platform from which to deliver her inspiring words. "The residents were unique and diverse in their own way. Friends, families, and even newlyweds showed up, they were all extremely welcoming and full of conversation."
The "33 Days of Augustus" continues Thursday and Friday. Anosike is scheduled to be at the Timberwolves Shootout Wednesday. Thursday's activities include the Protect The E.D.G.E. Basketball Camp and an appearance at Cornerstone, a Student of Color Alliance.
