Christon Helps Team USA Capture Title In Russia
On the heels of her breakout season in the WNBA, Christon wrapped the three-game tournament averaging 17.3 minutes, 9.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. New York's All-Star also shot a team-high .615-percent from the three-point line.
In the first match-up against ZVVZ UKA Praha -- the overseas club for team-mate Cathrine Kraayeveld -- the U.S. marched to a 100-81 victory. Christon added 10 points, on a near perfect shooting performance (four of five from the field, two of two from long range) in 12 minutes with one rebound and one assist. Kraayeveld finished with nine points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
Team USA went on to knock off Euroleasing Sopron the next day, 79-65. Christon, one of three Americans in double figures, posted 12 points, dished out three assists, blocked two shots and grabbed one board in 23 minutes.
In a starting role for the title game, Christon added six points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist in 17 minutes, as the U.S. claimed victory 78-63.
