The season is just around the corner and we are putting on our dancing shoes! This past Saturday the Liberty held Lil' Torches and Timeless Torches auditions at Ripley Grier Studios in Manhattan.

First up - the Lil' Torches. The long audition process started at 11:00am when one hundred kids, ages 6 to 13, hit the dance floor hardwood. They were immediately taught a dance move called "across the floor." This allowed the Liberty dance team staff to immediately pick out the kids who were top Lil' Torch material. After just a few minutes and a quick move, first cut to fifty was made. At that point the children learned part of a routine so they can better display their full set of skills. They put on their best moves to "It's Like That" by Run DMC. This was performed in groups of three allowing the judge maximum visibility of all candidates. Once the group was narrowed down to twenty-five, a full routine was taught and performed. The kids waited three long days until they were notified about the team. Following the kids, the Timeless Torches hit the floor strutting their stuff! Their auditions began at three in the afternoon when men and women over 40 years old showed that they were still young at heart. Fifty hopefuls were taught a routine to Justin Timberlake's hit "Sexy Back." They were taught a routine and then performed it in groups of two. A handful of potential Timeless Torches showed off their cartwheels and splits. One competitor when so far as to impress the judges with a whole slate of salsa moves. The 2007 Timeless Torches squad consists of 12 people including three men.
